Aims, Objectives and Induvidual Learning outcomes

Aims:

Our Aim is to produce an experimental film (Charlotte Mellor & I ) , that will be our interpretation of death in a first hand Audio Visual experience.  Our interpretation of of death will be the actual process of dying from ones eyes , with both comfortable and uncomfortable sounds and visuals. We want the audience to feel as though this is something that could happen to them, but also not in an obvious way that they would expect. The element of surprise is key here, as we wouldnt want the audience , or ourselves to feel like the process is a logical process. We will, however, follow a vague structure in order to achieve our final aim.

Objectives:

To work closely with all elements of the audio and visual in both capture and post production. We would like to go out of our comfort zone and also, to not follow any particular rules that apply to ‘Normal’ film, seeing as this is an experimental piece.

To use software such as logic and pro tools. We will most likely use logic as that is what we feel would be the best tool for the job. I have waves plugins and komplete 10 too, so they are useful as plugins for reverbs and effects bussing. It is possible that we will be creating our own patches too, but we still want that raw element of outside sampled sounds.

To research in depth, scientific views of death as well as paranormal and religious. We will have to be careful in each, especially religious, as there are ethical guidelines we must follow. Also, most religious views are of the afterlife and this is something we specifically dont want to look at, seeing as this is about the process of dying its self.

We would like to leave the audience asking questions, but also to be one of those pieces that makes people think in depth about their conciousness and their reality.

To look at past interpretations of death, musically and artistically, so we can guage how theyve done it, but also to look at what the audience thought of their works. For example Mozart’s Requiem, as well as looking into genres such as black metal.
